Why Nobody Cares About Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more attachments.

Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the stats of whatever item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it should be heavier.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

Some of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is shown by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, and are shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades refresh every day or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvement in stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its agility and speed. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power cost of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. For instance an upgrade could improve the damage that is caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade  upgrade item , equipment set piece, or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be lower if have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of giving you the highest tier blessings and perks.

To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. Additionally, players should consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful as well. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the gem it can provide different stat boost when slotted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain the privilege of having them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a jewel of the same type without damaging it. However, you can only replace a jewel in an equipment piece once.

Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it more smooth, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can give your character many small, but useful advantages. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by doing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket players will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active, and can also help make up for a lack of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's best statistics.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

At the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating the boss. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
